Are you looking for ways to volunteer at the church?  Do you have a special gift or talent that you would like to share?  We NEED you!  Rocky River Presbyterian is an active church and we need more people to help with all of the ministries and activities that we sponsor throughout the year.  Please prayerfully consider joining our ministries and committees - we have room for everyone in one way or another!

Many hands make light work!  Click HERE for a copy of the 2017 Time and Talent Form.  Just print a copy and return it to the church office by January 8th.

sunday school class helper

Need for Sunday School class helpers In order to provide a safe and secure learning environment for children and youth at RRPC we are in need of volunteers to be helpers in the children’s Sunday School classes. Helpers will not be asked to teach but will assist students as needed.

Classes are:

Godly Play (age 4 – Grade 2)

Advanced Godly Play (Grades 3-5)

Middle School (grades 6-8)

High School (grades 9-12)

If you are willing to help fill this need, please contact Sharon Vanpelt at

building & grounds

We had a successful work day May 6th to prepare for May Meeting. Thank you to all who turned out to help set up tables, clean the grounds, make needed repairs and stripe the  parking lot. Billy Carriker donated two truck loads of mulch for the playground. He also

donated the equipment to spread it, along with people power from Bill and Lily. All our  children appreciated the nice play surface. We will soon be asking for help for a work day to clean up another tree. This one fell in the cemetery behind the sanctuary.

If you have energy, talents or gifts to share we can always use volunteers, so please talk with Dave  Murray, Billy Carriker or Jim Rockel. Dave can be reached at 704-455-9469 or, Billy can be reached at 980-521-5457 or and Jim can be reached at 319-850-1335 or

If you have any other suggestions, please speak with Dave, Jim or Billy.

RRPC staffs a nursery for children from birth through age 5 so parents can actively and meaningfully participate in Sunday School and worship. We are always looking for people with big hearts for kiddos to assist with that. We also have a need for individuals with a heart for special needs children to help out to make sure those children are safe and loved during that time.

The commitment can be as much as every single week during the Sunday School hour, or four times per year during the worship hour. We are also looking for people who would be willing to serve as backups in the event someone is unable to meet their commitment, or if, at the last minute, we need extra hands in the room.

If this sounds like a place you can make a difference in the life of our church please reach out to the Church Administrator by calling the church office at 704-455-2479 or sending an email to and she will make sure the information is passed to the correct person.

(1 hour per month or on occasion)

Members assist in Sunday worship by reading scriptures, prayers and other elements of worship.  We encourage our youth to help with the service as well.  Please contact Carol Lyerly at if you would like to be a worship assitant

(45 minutes a few Sundays a year)

We are in need of ushers and greeters of all ages for Sunday mornings 15 minutes before Sunday school and 15 minutes before worship.  You will assist during Sunday Service handing out bulletins, collecting offering and clean-up after the service.  It is a great opportunity for families to serve together. Contact the office at if you are interested in serving.

(Sunday Mornings one month a year)

A new ministry where a team of members will serve as visitor greeters one or two months out of the year. As a member of the team, you will assist with giving bread to visitors, greeting visitors before and/or after the service and helping them learn about other opportunities at RRPC. Contact Jerry Clark at if you are interested in serving.

BREAD ministry

(a few times a year)

Bread bakers are members who are willing to bake bread to give to visitors on Sunday Morning. You make 3 loaves of the bread of your choice. It doesn't have to be homemade bread (box brand works just as well).  The bread will be given to visitors by volunteers after the service. Contact Jerry Clark at if you are interested in helping out.

free community meal

The Free Community Meal we have in the fellowship hall the first Wednesday night of each month has been well received. Throughout the winter we will offer a variety of soups and chili each month.  Would your Sunday School class or other church group like to commit to prepare the Free Community Meal for 2017? There is money in the church budget ($200 per month) to help cover expenses. Menu selections are up to you, but please make it nutritious and include a vegetarian item. Plan to feed 100 people. If there is food leftover, it is usually taken to the Harrisburg Fire Department or a local charity. Nothing is wasted.

The Free Community Meal is served from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please do not start putting the food away before 7:00. Some people cannot come until after 7:00 due to work schedules.

If a group you are in – or a group of friends in the church – wish to host the Free Community Meal this year, please let Niki Schneider know at as soon as possible. If your group or class is too small to host a meal, perhaps you can team up with another small group.

(Once per month)

A new ministry where there will be teams of members who will rotate taking primary responsibilities for kitchen during community and congregational meals. Duties will include arriving 30 minutes before the meal to setup and clean-up after the meal. Members will be trained on the dishwasher and all kitchen equipment. Contact the office at if you are interested in serving.
