  • rocky river readers

    Monday, November 26

    7:00 pm, church parlor

This month we will discuss The Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb. Set in England in 1914, this story is told through letters between Evie Elliot, her friend Alice, her brother Will and his best friend Thomas, during World War I.

As Will and Thomas leave for the front, Evie and everyone else thinks the war will be over by Christmas.  They make plans to meet in Paris to celebrate the season.  But as we know from history, that isn’t how the war went. Through these letters, they share their hopes and fears.  Can love flourish between Evie and Thomas at a time such as this?  What will the war and the future bring?

Skip ahead to 1968. With failing health, Thomas returns to Paris—a cherished packet of letters in hand—determined to lay to rest the ghosts of the past.  But one final letter is waiting for him.

Hazel Gaynor was selected by the US Library Journal as one of the “Ten Breakout Authors for 2015.”  Heather Webb is an international bestselling author.

This will be our last meeting of 2018.  Please join us for the discussion. If you would like information on the selections for 2019.

We always welcome new readers! Please join us in the church parlor whether you had a chance to read this month’s book or not.
